Rancho Cucamonga, CA- Brendon Davis and Devin Smeltzer had career nights to lead the Quakes to an 11-4 victory over Lancaster on Tuesday night.
Devin Smeltzer (4-3) was solid through six and a third innings, tying a career-high with 10 strikeouts while allowing three runs on 11 hits and walking one batter.
Brendon Davis provided all the offense that Smeltzer needed alone with a career-high five RBIs in just his third game with the Quakes since being promoted from Single-A Great Lakes.
Rancho found the scoreboard first in the bottom of the first inning when Luke Raley scored on a wild pitch and the Quakes would continue to tack on with three more in the third inning on a flurry of doubles.
Keibert Ruiz began the inning with a two-bagger, DJ Peters followed with a double of his own to put runners on second and third with no one out. Two batters later, Davis lined his first double of the day down the left-field line to score both of them to make it 3-0. Omar Estevez chipped in with an RBI double of his own the next batter to score Davis and it was 4-0.
The JetHawks attacked Smeltzer for three runs in the fourth, starting with a solo home run from Sam Hilliard. Later in the frame, Chris Rabago delivered a two-run double to make it 4-3.
Rancho added on in the bottom of the fourth with a solo home run from Ariel Sandoval. It was his third of the season and his first since July 10th at Inland Empire.
The very next inning, Omar Estevez made it 6-3 with an RBI triple that scored Johan Mieses and Rancho tacked three more on in the sixth. With the bases loaded and two outs, Davis struck again with his second double of the night to clear the bases and make it 9-3.
A wild-pitch and an error scored Ibandel Isabel and Zach McKinstry in the seven inning to make it 11-3, but the JetHawks tacked on in the top of the eighth with a run scoring on an error to draw one run closer.
Isaac Anderson finished the game off for Rancho Cucamonga by recording the last eight outs and only allowing the one unearned run.
