Rancho Cucamonga, CA - California League Awards for the 2019 season were announced by the league office today and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes have three players that made this year's end-of-year All-Star Team.
Infielders Jeter Downs and Devin Mann, along with outfielder Donovan Casey were all named to the Cal League post-season All-Star Team.
Downs, who was promoted to Double-A Tulsa on Tuesday, had a break-out season in his first year in the Los Angeles Dodgers' system. Downs batted .269 in 107 games, with 19 homers and a team-high 75 RBIs and was named as the utility player. The Columbia native was sixth in the league in homers, second in RBIs, third in runs (78) and led the circuit in both doubles (35) and extra-base hits (56) while he was second in total bases (209).
Mann, who was just activated on Tuesday after missing more than a month with an injury, was named to the team as the second baseman despite appearing in a total of just 86 games. The Columbus, Indiana native hit .281 before the injury, with 17 homers and 56 RBIs.
Appearing in 100 games this season, Casey batted .270 with a team-high 20 long-balls and 65 RBIs for Rancho, before getting called up to Double-A Tulsa less than two weeks ago. The Deptford, New Jersey native also had 13 outfield assists to lead the club and was one of three outfielders named to the All-Star Team.
Infielder Luis Castro of Lancaster and Lake Elsinore catcher Luis Campusano were named Co-MVPs of the California League, while Modesto's Ian McKinney was named the Cal League Pitcher of the Year.
