Quevedo, LumberKings Walk Off on Kernels
CLINTON, IOWA - Yojhan Quevedo's 11th-inning solo home run pushed the Clinton LumberKings to a 2-1 walk-off win Saturday against the Cedar Rapids Kernels at Ashford University Field. In the fifth, Clinton (3-7, 34-43) evened the score at 1-1. The LumberKings escaped a bases-loaded jam in the top of the frame to keep the contest close. In the bottom of the inning,
Neither side could break the tie over the next several innings. The best scoring chance before extra innings came in the bottom of the eighth. Brigman hit a leadoff single and got as far as third base due to a throwing error, but he was stranded in scoring position.
Quevedo won the game for Clinton during the 11th.
Jeffeson Medina (4-0) claimed the victory after posting two shutout frames within extra innings. McGuff allowed one run in one-third of an inning and fell to 0-2.
This four-game series continues Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with right-hander
