(Reading, PA) - The Reading Fightin Phils, Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, are excited to announce the promotion of James Morrissey to their full-time staff. Morrissey will serve as the Manager, Community Relations.

In his new role, Morrissey will oversee several aspects of the Fightin Phils' community relations efforts, including the Knothole Gang, Neighborhood Champions program, community scheduling, mascot appearances, and community service opportunities for players. He will work closely with local organizations and members of the Reading community, helping represent the Fightin Phils throughout Baseballtown.

Morrissey was an intern with the Fightin Phils during the 2026 season, where he gained experience across several areas of the front office. He assisted with merchandise, community relations, the ticket office, and other departments, gaining a well-rounded understanding of the organization's operations. His internship allowed him to contribute to a variety of responsibilities, from merchandise promotions to coordinating Knothole Gang tickets and scheduling Neighborhood Champions appearances.

Before joining the Fightin Phils as an intern, Morrissey served as a gameday intern in 2025, where he assisted with the 50/50 raffle, customer service, meet-and-greets, and other ballpark operations. He attended Pensacola Christian College, graduating in December 2025 with a degree in Sports Management. During college, Morrissey served as athletic director for his student organization for two years, coordinating intramural sports schedules, designing team jerseys, and assisting with sporting events. He graduated from Annville-Cleona High School in 2022.

"I'm really excited to join the full-time staff," Morrissey said. "The best part about it is that everyone's family. Everyone's super close, so I'm really excited to stay with the people around the Fightin Phils. I'm just really excited to get started and stay in Baseballtown for the future."

The Fightin Phils' strong internship program has produced a majority of Reading's front office staff, with 29 of 32 full-time staff members once serving as interns. The best way to get your start in the sports industry is with a Fightin Phils internship.
