Reed homers in 4th consecutive game, White and Fisher go 3-for-5 in 8-7 win over Round Rock

The Fresno Grizzlies (58-42) came away with an 8-7 victory over the Round Rock Express (45-55) on Saturday night at Chukchansi Park. Fresno is now 15-7 in one-run games overall and 9-2 at home. Winners of their last 11 of 12, the Grizzlies remain tied for first in the Pacific

The Fresno Grizzlies (58-42) came away with an 8-7 victory over the Round Rock Express (45-55) on Saturday night at Chukchansi Park. Fresno is now 15-7 in one-run games overall and 9-2 at home. Winners of their last 11 of 12, the Grizzlies remain tied for first in the Pacific North Division with the Reno Aces who also won their game on Saturday night.
Fresno sent eight batters to the plate in the first to take a 4-0 lead over the Express. Teoscar Hernández doubled to score Tyler White (3-for-5) who also doubled to get on before A.J. Reed homered in his fourth consecutive game. Reed's three-run bomb to center was his 21st of the season. He is now tied with Derek Fisher for the team-lead in home runs. In the second, Fisher (3-for-5) knocked a RBI single that scored Tony Kemp (single) to give the Grizzlies a 5-0 lead.
Round Rock found themselves a spot on the board in the fourth when Jurickson Profar hit a RBI single that scored Ronald Guzmán who walked to get on. They added another tally in the top of the fifth when Guzman hit a sacrifice fly to score Will Middlebrooks (2-for-3), making the score 6-2. Starter James Dykstra (1-4) suffered the loss for the Express. He lasted just 3.2 innings while allowing six runs on nine hits and three walks with four strikeouts.
The Grizzlies sixth run came off the bat of White in the bottom of the fourth. He crushed his second homer in just as many games, his 19th of the season. The solo shot to right center led off the frame for the home team. White ended the night a triple away from the cycle. Fisher then drove in two more runs in the bottom of the fifth. The base hit scored Max Stassi (2-for-4) who singled and Kemp who walked to increase Fresno's lead to 8-2.
The Express scored five unanswered runs through the last three frames to make the final score 8-7. With two outs in the seventh, Middlebrooks lifted his 19th home run of the season, a solo shot to left. Later in the inning, Guzman drove in another run with a RBI single. In the eighth, Travis Snider scored when Profar grounded into a double play with no outs. Middlebrooks proceeded to hit his second homer of the game in the ninth, a two-run shot off the batter's eye.
Grizzlies starter Mike Hauschild allowed one run on four hits and three walks with four strikeouts through four innings. Reliever Jacob Dorris (1-0) earned his first Triple-A win with three strikeouts through two innings. He allowed one unearned run on two hits and a walk. Jordan Jankowski picked up his eighth save of the season in the ninth when he struck out the side, despite allowing a home run.
Fresno and Round Rock continue the four-game series with game three on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. Probable starters are RHP Tyler Wagner (1-8, 6.90) for the Express, against RHP Rogelio Armenteros (3-0, 3.18) for the Grizzlies.
