Portland, Maine - Austin Rei hit a two-run single with two outs in the bottom of the eighth and the Sea Dogs (28-46) took the rubber match over the Trenton Thunder (42-32) 5-4 in front of 6,476 fans on Sunday afternoon at Hadlock Field.

Trailing 4-2 in the eighth, Chad De La Guerra homered off of Jordan Foley (L, 2-2) to cut the deficit to 3-2. After a walk to Josh Ockimey, an infield single by Johnny Bladel, and a walk to Luke Tendler, Rei blooped a single into left-center to score two and give Portland the 5-4 lead.
Trey Ball (W, 2-2) was the winner, the Sea Dogs' southpaw worked two perfect innings and struck out two in the process. Josh Taylor (S, 3) earned the save, pitching around two singles in the ninth and inducing a 6-4-3 double play to end the ballgame.
Trenton Thunder Michael King allowed two runs on just three hits over seven, he walked three and struck out eight, his season high at Double-A.
Trenton scored the game's first run just two batters into the game. After Mike Shawaryn walked Jeff Hendrix to begin the ballgame, Billy Fleming hit a double to the gap to score Hendrix and make it 1-0 Trenton.
Portland was able to tie the game with a run in the fourth, but loaded the bases with nobody out and couldn't plate any more than that. Johnny Bladel hit a sac fly to tie the game 1-1.
The Thunder answered in the top of the fifth, loading the bases themselves with nobody out. After Fleming broke the tie with an RBI groundout, Trey Amburgey hit a two-run single with two down to give Trenton the 4-1 lead.
Luke Tendler led off the bottom of the seventh with a solo homer off of King to account for the second Sea Dogs' run. The homer was Tendler's seventh.
Shawaryn allowed four runs on seven hits in six innings and tied Dedgar Jimenez with a Sea Dogs' season high 105 pitches. Shawaryn struck out five and walked two.
The Sea Dogs open up a four-game series with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays affiliate) on Monday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. Lefty Dedgar Jimenez (2-6, 5.87) makes the start for Portland.
Radio coverage begins at 6:50 PM on the WPEI U.S. Cellular Sea Dogs Radio Network. MiLB.TV starts at 7:00 PM.
