Express LHP Taylor Hearn Named Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week

ROUND ROCK, Texas – Round Rock Express LHP Taylor Hearn was named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for July 4-July 10, as announced by Minor League Baseball on Monday afternoon. Round Rock pitchers have earned the league’s Pitcher of the Week title in three consecutive weeks after LHP Cole Ragans earned the award from June 20-26 and RHP Spencer Howard collected the honor from June 27-July 3.

Hearn made one start on Friday, July 8 against the Albuquerque Isotopes (Colorado Rockies) as he tossed 5.0 innings and allowed one run on one hit. He walked two and struck out nine while throwing just 76 pitches. Round Rock held on for a 7-3 victory as Hearn earned his first win of the year.

Hearn joined Round Rock on June 25 and made his first start on July 2 at Las Vegas. He tossed 5.0 innings in that appearance and allowed four earned runs on five hits with three walks and seven strikeouts.

The Royse City, Texas native began the season with the Texas Rangers and appeared in 14 games while making 13 starts. He posted a 5.86 ERA (41 ER/63.0 IP) and held a 4-5 record. Hearn started this year’s home opener at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

The lefty was traded to the Rangers from the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 31, 2018. He has spent parts of the last four seasons with the Rangers and, before his July 2 start at Las Vegas, had last appeared in a minor league game on April 20, 2019 while pitching for Triple-A Nashville. Hearn has a 3.54 ERA over 10 minor league seasons.

Round Rock returns to the field on Tuesday against the El Paso Chihuahuas (San Diego Padres) at Southwest University Park to start a six-game series. Both starting pitchers have yet to be announced. The Express return to Dell Diamond on Friday, July 22 to take on the Las Vegas Aviators. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT.
