RENO, Nev. – The Reno Aces (17-40, 54-78) ended August with a pair of wins in their six-game set against the Sacramento River Cats (34-23, 70-62), the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, at Greater Nevada Field last week.

Spencer Giesting turned in one of the best starts of his Triple-A career in Friday’s 15-2 victory, allowing just one run over 6 2/3 innings pitched. The left-hander struck out five and walked just one en route to his fourth win of the season. Offensively, the Aces dominated with 15 runs on 17 hits led by Matt Mervis and Kristian Robinson. Mervis went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI while Robinson was 3-for-5 finishing a triple shy of the cycle with three RBI.

Dylan Ray made it back-to-back Aces' victories with a pitching gem of his own on Saturday night, spinning 5 1/3 scoreless frames and matching his professional career-high with nine strikeouts. Overall, the Reno pitching staff combined for a season-best 16 strikeouts in the 5-0 shutout win. Offensively, the BLC-Nine scored five runs on eight hits led by multi-hit nights from Tommy Troy (2-for-3) and Andy Weber (2-for-4). Ivan Melendez also excelled driving in two runs in the victory.

For the series, Kristian Robinson was nearly unstoppable hitting .429 with an other worldly 1.508 OPS, recording four extra-base hits and seven runs batted in. The series was a huge boost for the former prospect’s season number bumping his average up to .241 and his OPS up to an .819 mark.

Hitting in the top third of the Reno lineup, Tommy Troy and Andy Weber both had huge series against Sacramento. The infield duo combined for 20 hits and 14 runs during the week. Weber slashed .500/.565.700 while Troy hit to a .435 average and a .936 OPS.

The Aces hit the road to kickoff September as they head to Tacoma for a six-game series against the first-place Rainiers, Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. Game one will be Tuesday night at 6:05 p.m. PT from Cheney Stadium.
