Augusta, GA - Behind the right arm of Hildemaro Requena and a three-run top of the first, the Greenville Drive easily defeated the Augusta GreenJackets 3-1 in Friday's series opener.
Requena (10-3) became the first Drive (32-29, 73-57) pitcher to reach double-figure wins after silencing the GreenJackets (26-35, 49-77) for seven innings. He allowed just one unearned run on four hits and one walk with four strikeouts to lower his season ERA to 2.12.
The Drive offense got off to terrific starts the previous two nights, and Friday was no different. After a walk by Brett Netzer and singles from Bobby Dalbec and Tyler Hill loaded the bases, Ryan Scott delivered a two-run double off Raffi Vizcaino (4-7). to put the Drive on top. Jerry Downs then hit a sacrifice fly to stake the Drive to a 3-0 lead.

Vizcaino rebounded from that rough start, as he finished his night with 11 strikeouts in six innings.
The score remains there until the seventh, when the GreenJackets struck for an unearned run to cut the Drive lead to 3-1.
Juan Florentino entered in the eighth for the Drive and fired two scoreless frames to log his third save.
Hill and Netzer collected two hits apiece for Greenville. Netzer has now hit safely in nine of his last 11 games.
Game two of the three-game series begins at 6:05 on Saturday night in Augusta. Left-hander Darwinzon Hernandez (3-4, 3.86) will start for the Drive, and the GreenJackets will counter with right-hander Yordy Cabrera (1-2, 3.60).
