Juan Reyes Named Carolina League Pitcher of the Week

NEW YORK - Minor League Baseball (MiLB) announced on Monday Fredericksburg Nationals LHP Juan Reyes has been named Carolina League Pitcher of the Week for Week 22, August 24-30. Reyes, signed by the Nationals as an international free agent from Panama City, Panama in 2023, is in his first season

NEW YORK - Minor League Baseball (MiLB) announced on Monday Fredericksburg Nationals LHP Juan Reyes has been named Carolina League Pitcher of the Week for Week 22, August 24-30.

Reyes, signed by the Nationals as an international free agent from Panama City, Panama in 2023, is in his first season stateside after two years in the Dominican Summer League.

Reyes debuted with the FredNats on July 24, after pitching in 11 games and starting nine in the FCL this season. This week, Reyes started Wednesday’s game at Delmarva, setting the table for a shutout win with five scoreless innings, striking out four and allowing just one hit.

Reyes was also named an FCL Postseason All Star by Minor League Baseball last week.

Reyes is the fifth FredNat to win a Carolina League weekly award, following Yeremy Cabrera (twice), Gavin Fien, Carson Fischer and Coy James.

The FredNats will finish the regular season this week with a seven-game home series against the Wilson Warbirds. First pitch in Tuesday’s opener is set for 6:05 p.m.
