Richmond sweeps 'Dogs, 4-1 and 3-1

Portland, Maine - The Richmond Flying Squirrels (52-57) struck back on Star Wars night at Hadlock Field and swept both sides of a doubleheader with the Sea Dogs (45-65), winning 4-1 and 3-1.

GAME 1 RECAP
 
Richmond rallied for four runs in the fifth inning off of Dedgar Jimenez and held on to beat Portland 4-1 in game one.
 
The Squirrels sent all nine to the plate in the top of the fifth. Luigi Rodriguez hit a two-run single with the bases loaded to give Richmond its first lead at 2-1. Three batters later Jonah Arenado blooped a pop-up single down the first base line to extend the lead to 4-1.
 
Jake McCasland (4-3) earned the victory for Richmond. The righty allowed one run on five hits in five innings while walking one and striking out six.
 
Jimenez (L, 6-7) allowed four runs on eight hits in 4.2 innings, he walked three.
 
The Sea Dogs scored their lone run in the top of the first on an RBI single off the Maine Monster by Bobby Dalbec in his first Double-A at bat. Dalbec finished the game 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and an RBI.

GAME 2 RECAP
 
Chase Johnson shut the Sea Dogs down with five scoreless innings of two-hit baseball and the Flying Squirrels took game two 3-1.
 
Johnson (W, 1-2) matched a season-high with five innings pitched and allowed two hits while walking one and striking out four.
 
Richmond jumped out to an early lead in the first. Ali Castillo walked to lead off the ballgame and later came around to score on an RBI groundout by Dylan Davis.
 
The Squirrels struck for two more runs in the fifth off of Jared Oliver, who made his Double-A debut in relief of Daniel McGrath. Davis added another RBI with a single to score Matt Lipka, then Caleb Gindl hit a sac fly to score Castillo and make it 3-0.
 
McGrath (L, 1-3) allowed one run on two hits over four innings, he walked two and fanned one.
 
The Sea Dogs scored in the sixth on an RBI double by Michael Chavis off of Sam Wolff. Wolff was able to strike out Bobby Dalbec to end the inning and the Sea Dogs' threat.
The Sea Dogs and Richmond Flying Squirrels (Giants affiliate) wrap up a three-game series on Sunday afternoon beginning at 1:00 PM at Hadlock Field. Righty Teddy Stankiewicz (6-9, 4.45) is on the hill for Portland. RHP Logan Webb makes his Double-A debut for Richmond.
