FRISCO, Texas (May 5, 2017) - In front of a sellout crowd of 11,897, the Frisco RoughRiders, playing as "Los Jinetes de Frisco" on Cinco de Mayo, were defeated by the San Antonio Missions 5-4 in the finale of a four-game series Friday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark.
BIG MOMENTS

  • Trailing 5-2 in the seventh, the Riders rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh, cutting the deficit to 5-4. Isiah Kiner-Falefa's RBI single to right and Luke Tendler's sacrifice fly did the damage.
  • Frisco almost tied the game in the bottom of the eighth, but Matt Lipka was tagged out at home plate by Missions pitcher Brad Wieck trying to score on a ball that got away from catcher Stephen McGee .
  • San Antonio opened with a three-run first against Riders starter Yohander Méndez . Jose Cardona's RBI groundout in the bottom of the first inning cut the San Antonio lead to 3-1. Frisco added another run in the second on Scott Heineman's run-scoring single to make it 3-2.
  • The Missions added a pair of runs in the sixth and the seventh on Franmil Reyes' homer and Nick Schulz's run-scoring single.
  • Despite delivering a quality start, Frisco's Yohander Mendez suffered his second consecutive loss. The lefty allowed four runs (three earned) on two hits and three walks with six strikeouts over six innings.

  • The sellout crowd of 11,897 ranks as the third-largest total in franchise history. 10 of the 12 largest crowds in team history have come in 2015 or later.
  • Scott Heineman extended his on-base streak to 25 games with a double and a single, maintaining the longest on-base streak in Minor League Baseball.
  • Yohander Mendez delivered the third consecutive quality start for Frisco starters, following in the footsteps of Connor Sadzeck and Ariel Jurado .
  • After Friday's ballgame, all eight head-to-head meetings between Frisco and San Antonio have been decided by three runs or fewer, including three one-run games.
