River Cats come up clutch in 7-3 win over Reno

Reno, NV - The Sacramento River Cats (54-71) came through in the clutch tonight, taking advantage of timely hitting and a strong game by Mac Williamson to defeat the division-leading Reno Aces (70-56) 7-3 Friday night at Greater Nevada Field.

With two outs and the game tied at three in the seventh, Conor Gillaspie lined a base hit to put runners on the corners. Williamson followed with an RBI-single before Chris Shaw added another two-out RBI-single to give Sacramento a 5-3 lead.
Sacramento added on in the ninth, with Williamson again coming through with an infield RBI-single. He finished his night 4-for-4 with a walk, reaching base in all five of his plate appearances. Gillaspie was right behind him, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored.
The River Cats are back in Sacramento tomorrow night as they welcome the Albuquerque Isotopes to Raley Field for the last time this season. Sacramento's Casey Kelly (5-5, 4.79) will face Albuquerque's Yency Almonte (1-0, 5.09). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. (PT) and the game can be heard live online at rivercats.com and on the air on Money 105.5 FM.

Williamson: In this four-game series with Reno, Mac Williamson went 9-for-17 (.529) with four runs scored, two doubles, two home runs, and five RBI…over his last 10 games, Williamson is hitting .368 (14-for-38) with seven runs scored, eight RBI, and three home runs.
Bash Brothers: Mac Williamson and Chris Shaw, the three- and four-hitters in the lineup, combined to go 6-for-8 with five RBI tonight…Williamson (43) and Shaw (41) are second and third, respectively, in RBI among active River Cats, trailing only Jae-Gyun Hwang (48).
Gage: Matt Gage threw 5.1 innings for Sacramento tonight, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks…struck out three and threw 97 pitches (61 strikes).  
Two-Out RBI: Three of Sacramento's seven runs came with two outs tonight…Melvin Upton, Mac Williamson, and Chris Shaw each had a two-out RBI in tonight's win.
Law: Derek Law pitched two scoreless innings tonight, earning his eighth save of the season.
