River Cats deal late blow to Aces in 7-6 comeback

Sacramento rallies for two runs in ninth inning to stun Reno

Reno, NV - The Sacramento River Cats (52-70) and Reno Aces (69-54) went back and forth Tuesday night at Greater Nevada Field but thanks to four runs in the final three innings it was the visitors who came away with the 7-6 win.

Reno, NV - The Sacramento River Cats (52-70) and Reno Aces (69-54) went back and forth Tuesday night at Greater Nevada Field but thanks to four runs in the final three innings it was the visitors who came away with the 7-6 win.

After the Aces rallied for four runs in the seventh inning to take a 6-4 lead, the River Cats began a comeback bid of their own. Sacramento scored three runs in the final two innings, highlighted by a two-run ninth inning that completed the rally. Mac Williamson was the catalyst tonight, leading off the final frame by launching his second home run of the game to get things started. Birthday boy Juan Ciriaco dealt the final blow tonight, chasing home Jae-Gyun Hwang on a single down the right-field line for the winning run.
Game two tomorrow night will feature River Cats' right-hander Jose Flores (1-2, 3.09) up against Aces' left-hander Eric Jokisch (7-6, 4.36). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. (PT) and the game can be heard live online at rivercats.com and on the air on ESPN 1320.

Mac: Right fielder Mac Williamson collected three RBI and hit his 11th and 12th home runs of the year tonight…was his second two-homer game this season (last on 6/3 at Albuquerque)…has three big flies in his last four games.
Federowicz: Catcher Tim Federowicz went deep for a second consecutive game…finished 3-for-5 and now leads the team with seven three-hit games…has eight RBI in his last six games.
Gomez: Right-hander Roberto Gomez got the start tonight, going 5.2 innings while allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits with four strikeouts and did not allow a walk…in his last five outings, is 1-1 with a 2.10 ERA (6 ER, 25.2 IP) and 22 strikeouts…induced 11 groundball outs…committed his first error of the season tonight.
Shaw: Left fielder Chris Shaw made his first start since being hit by a pitch on August 12…finished 1-for-4 with his 20th double of the year…now tied with Jae-Gyun Hwang for the team-lead in doubles.
Gillaspie: First baseman Conor Gillaspie had his second two-hit game with the River Cats tonight and scored a run…stole a base for the second straight game and his third of the season…now hitting .242 in 19 games with the club.
