River Cats rally late in 4-2 win over Colorado Springs

Sacramento earns series win thanks to timely hitting, Roth's start

Colorado Springs, CO - The Sacramento River Cats (15-21) capped off their highest scoring series of the season by defeating the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (21-11) 4-2.

The River Cats trailed two different times today, rallying in the third and seventh innings before scoring two runs in the eighth frame and putting the game away. Sacramento got a strong start from left-hander Michael Roth, who allowed two runs over his six innings while striking out four and did not allow a walk.
Jae-Gyun Hwang picked up where he left off from yesterday, going deep in third inning for his second home run in as many days. The third baseman tied the game again in the seventh with a sacrifice fly which scored second baseman Orlando Calixte. In the eighth, first baseman Kyle Blanks and shortstop Juniel Querecuto each drove in a run to put the River Cats up for good. Right-hander Kyle Crick closed the door in the ninth, earning his third save of the season.  
The River Cats will now head to Oklahoma City to take on the Dodgers in a four-game set. Game one tomorrow features Sacramento right-hander Chris Stratton (0-0, 5.12) up against Oklahoma City's righty Wilmer Font (2-3, 3.89). First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m. (PT) and the game can be heard live online at rivercats.com and on the air on ESPN 1320.
Postgame Notes
Series win: Sacramento won their second series of the season and first since playing Tacoma to begin the year…the River Cats scored 33 runs in the four-game series on 51 hits (24 extra base hits).
Hwang's hot hitting: Third baseman Jae-Gyun Hwang finished 2-for-4 today, his team-leading 14th two-hit game…also hit his second home run of the season, both of which have come in consecutive games...today marked his fourth two-RBI game.
Roth: Michael Roth had his best outing of the season today, as he went a season-high six innings and did not walk a batter for the first time in his six starts…improved his road ERA from 7.43 to 6.05 after his start today.
Crick: Right-hander Kyle Crick earned his team-leading third save of the season…today's outing was his sixth consecutive scoreless appearance…in those six outings, has thrown eight innings, allowing two hits, four walks, and nine strikeouts.
