SALT LAKE CITY, UT - The Sacramento River Cats (6-7) defeated the Salt Lake Bees (8-6) by a score of 5-3 in a Wednesday matinee. The River Cats offense was dormant in the first five innings, but came alive for three runs in the sixth and two in the seventh thanks to a string of clutch base hits.

Every River Cats hitter had at least one hit on Wednesday and five consecutive hits in the sixth inning gave Sacramento a 3-1 lead, including an RBI-double by Chase d'Arnaud. Infielder Ryder Jones went three-for-four with an RBI-double, his first three-hit game of the season.
Tyler Herb picked up his second quality start of the season, allowing two runs on five hits in 5.1 innings of work. Herb only had three strikeouts, but was able to force a lot of groundball outs, including a double-play to end a threat in the fifth inning. Tyler Rogers provided stellar relief as he struck out two batters in 1.2 innings pitched and Roberto Gomez came in in the eighth to nail down a five-out save.
The River Cats look to take command of the series in Thursday's matchup. Right-hander Dereck Rodríguez (0-0, 4.70) makes his third start of the season for Sacramento and Salt Lake will counter with RHP Osmer Morales (1-0, 5.59). Additional Notes
Mac Williamson extended his hitting streak to eleven games, but had his RBI-streak snapped at ten. Williamson still went one-for-four with a run scored.
• The River Cats had two pickoffs on Wednesday, a back pick at first base by Jeff Arnold, and a pickoff at first base by Tyler Rogers. That is the first time this season in which the River Cats had multiple pickoffs.
• Roberto Gomez recorded a five-out save on Wednesday, only the second save of the season for the River Cats.
