The Sacramento River Cats (15-25) returned home from a seven-game road trip to a packed Raley Field crowd but fell in game one of their four-game set 6-0 to the Nashville Sounds (19-19).

The Sacramento River Cats (15-25) returned home from a seven-game road trip to a packed Raley Field crowd but fell in game one of their four-game set 6-0 to the Nashville Sounds (19-19).

Nashville jumped out to an early lead, scoring two runs in the first off starter Joan Gregorio. Gregorio entered play tonight with the second best ERA in the PCL (2.04) but struggled tonight as the Sounds pushed four more runs across in the fourth.
The River Cats offense managed just three hits tonight, one of which came from third baseman Conor Gillaspie who was making his rehab debut with the club. The Sacramento defense committed more errors (four) than the offense managed hits. The four errors are a season-high.
Left-hander Michael Roth (2-3, 4.54) will face Nashville's Chris Bassitt (1-0, 4.00) in tomorrow night's game two. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. (PT) and the game can be heard live online at rivercats.com and on the air on Money 105.5 FM.
Postgame Notes
Gregorio: Right-hander Joan Gregorio picked up his third loss of the season tonight…he went a season-low four innings and tied a season-high by surrendering three earned runs…Gregorio also walked five batters for a second straight start and has now allowed a home run in three straight outings.  
Gillaspie: Conor Gillaspie made his first rehab appearance with the River Cats…he went 1-for-3 and played six innings at third base before being replaced by Juan Ciriaco…Gillaspie is working his way back from lower back spasms suffered in April.
Blunders: The River Cats set a season-high with four errors tonight…three of their four errors came in the first four innings…two of the errors came in the fourth inning…Sacramento entered tonight's game with the fourth best fielding percentage (.981) and third fewest errors (27) in the Pacific Coast League.
Strong 'pen: Four different Sacramento relievers combined to go five scoreless innings tonight…in their last 26.2 innings, River Cats relievers have surrendered three earned runs (1.01 ERA).  
Shutout: Sacramento was shut out for the third this time season…tonight was their first shutout loss at home…last time they were held scoreless was 4/30 at Tacoma…tonight was the first time since April 27 that the team did not collect an extra-base hit.
