ROUND ROCK, Tex. The recent magic of the Sacramento River Cats finally ran dry, as their season best eight-game winning streak came to an end behind a 1-0 win by the Round Rock Express on Wednesday.

Five hits were all the River Cats (25-16/61-55) could manage on the day, none of which went for extra bases while only two came in the same inning during the fifth. Two of the knocks came from Marco Luciano who has hits in three straight games, while Osleivis Basabe singled on the first pitch of the game and stole second but was subsequently left stranded.

Sacramento starter Seth Lonsway (1-1) allowed just one run in the fourth inning, a two-out RBI single by Richie Martin after Michael Helman had already been thrown out trying to score earlier in the frame. However, he was charged with his first Triple-A loss, and the nine hits he scattered were one off his season high of 10 with Double-A Richmond on June 20.

This marked the ninth shutout loss of the season for Sacramento, dropping them to 7-9 in such games. The last time Sacramento was shutout was when they were dropped 2-0 in Salt Lake by the Bees on July 8.

Overall there were four runners thrown out trying to steal in the contest, the most in any Pacific Coast League game this season. Two of those runners thrown out were Hunter Bishop, as he was twice caught trying to swipe second during the second and fifth innings.

The River Cats will look to rebound with the series tied at a game apiece on Thursday at 5:05 p.m. (PT) from Dell Diamond.
