CHARLESTON, SC - Go bananas for an exciting RiverDogs homestand from July 7-10, facing the Columbia Fireflies. The Charleston RiverDogs are putting their tight pants on and donning their capes as they ready for a triumphant return to Joe Riley Park for a four-game series.
The Palmetto State's version of the Subway Series will celebrate everyone's favorite yellow fruit to start the homestand. Saturday features another helicopter ball drop with an $8,000 jackpot, superheroes flying in to welcome fans on another MUSC Health Family Sunday, and another Monday Dog Day at The Joe.
Friday, July 7, 7:05pm: Bananas for Bananas Bonanza! / Home Telecom Fireworks/Denny McClain appearance: It's the most a-"peel"-ing Friday night of the season when the RiverDogs celebrate everyone's favorite yellow fruit, presented by Mix 96 and Live 5 News. The first 1,000 fans will be treated to banana-flavored Laffy Taffy candy at the gates. Fans will enjoy banana trivia, a banana-eating contest, kid's banana chase, and more. With this many bananas at the Joe, it wouldn't be surprising if a mischievous monkey were spotted during the game. Fans will make sure to stick around for the post-game Home Telecom Fireworks to cap off the bonanza. Also, Denny McClain, the last pitcher to win at least 30 games in the Majors, will be at the ballpark Friday night to engage with the crowd and sign autographs.
Saturday, July 8, 6:05pm: Saturdays Live at The Joe: Helicopter Bouncy Ball Drop: The jackpot has been growing all season, and this Saturday Live at The Joe presented by NASH FM and Fox 24, RiverDogs fans have a shot at an $8,000 grand prize. The first 3,000 fans will receive a ball drop ticket in hopes that one of the thousands of bouncy balls falling from the sky will make them a winner in the most unique post-game presentation in MiLB. Denny McClain will also be back at the ballpark on Saturday night to meet and greet the great baseball fans of the Lowcountry.
Sunday, July 9, 5:05pm: Superhero Sunday / MUSC Health Family Sunday in the Holy City: Look, up in the sky! It's a bird, it's a plane...it's Superhero Sunday in partnership with Lowcountry Parent Magazine. Fans can meet and greet with some of their favorite heroes like Superman to Ninja Turtles, receive capes for kids on the concourse and fans will take part in action-packed races and contests against their favorite superheroes. Fans can go to riverdogs.com/groups and use the password "superhero" to gain early access for a special meet and greet with superheroes. Every Sunday is an MUSC Health Family Sunday in the Holy City as the RiverDogs wear their Holy City pinstriped uniforms on an evening of family fun. In partnership with Y102.5, the RiverDogs offer free parking while members of the MUSC Children's Health Kids Club (12 and under) gain free admission, eat free, play pregame catch on the field, and run the bases postgame.
Monday, July 10,7:05pm: Monday Dog Day / All-Lowcountry High School Baseball and Softball Awards: Humans can enjoy $1 beer and $1 hot dogs courtesy of Busch Light with their four-legged friends during game four of the home stand presented by 92.5 Kickin' Country. The coaches and players will be recognized in a pre-game ceremony and receive a commemorative plaque honoring their achievements from this past season.
