WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (April 15, 2019) - Winston-Salem outfielder Luis Robert and Lynchburg right-hander Eli Morgan have earned the Carolina League's first weekly honors of the season, the league office announced Monday.
Robert is the CL's Player of the Week thanks to a dominant nine-game stretch to start the season. He leads the league and stands second in High-A with a .475 batting average, powered by multi-hit efforts in eight of his nine starts. The 21-year-old also leads all of Class A in both home runs (5) and RBIs (15), including a two-homer, five-RBI performance on Opening Night at Wilmington.

Rated as the fourth-best prospect in the White Sox organization per MLB Pipeline, Robert has logged an impressive .306 average and an .897 OPS during his first 87 Minor League games.
Morgan posted two scoreless starts en route to the Carolina League's first Pitcher of the Week honor in 2019. In his debut on April 7 at Myrtle Beach, the right-hander limited the Pelicans to one hit over six innings, during which he fanned six. Five days later, in another road start, Morgan struck out 9 Down East Wood Ducks over five dominant innings. In all, Morgan's 15 strikeouts and .091 opponent batting average lead the league, while he is one of three CL qualifiers who has yet to allow a run this season.
Originally an eighth-round pick by Cleveland in 2017, Morgan ranks as the Indians' 18th-best prospect. The California native boasts a 2.66 earned run average in 42 career professional appearances.
