Hartford, Conn- The Hartford Yard Goats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League Affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, has announced that the organizations top prospect, shortstop Brendan Rodgers has been promoted to the Yard Goats from Class-A Lancaster. The 20 year old, who is the youngest player on the Yard Goats roster, just played in the California League All-Star game on Tuesday. He is currently leading the California League with a .400 batting average, .419 on base percentage, .700 slugging percentage, 36 extra base hits and 147 total bases. He is the first Lancaster JetHawks player to hit .400 in the first half since Astros star José Altuve in 2011. Rodgers was selected by the Rockies as the 3rd overall pick in the 2015 Major League draft out of Lake Mary High School in Florida. He becomes the highest ever draft-pick to play for the Yard Goats.   
Along with Rodgers, infielder Brian Mundell was promoted to the Yard Goats from Lancaster and will be in uniform tonight. The 23 year old was leading the California League with 59 RBI, tied for second with 12 home runs, second with 133 total bases and ranked third in circuit in slugging percentage (.504) and extra base hits (29). Both Rodgers and Mundell helped pace the JetHawks offense which led the California League in batting in the first half of the season with a .309 average along with 449 runs scored. 
Rodgers is listed by Baseball America as the #16 overall prospect with Red Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi ranked as #1. The scouting magazine also rates Rodgers as the top overall prospect in the Rockies system and the best power hitter in the chain. MLB.com ranks him as the #10 overall prospect in minor league baseball. Rodgers hit safely in a California League season-high 23 consecutive games from May 21 through June 15. Mundell is listed by Baseball America as the Rockies #28 prospect and MLB.com ranks his #19 in the system.
