J.C. Rodriguez delivered a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the seventh to lift the Snappers to a 5-4 win after squandering a 4-0 lead in Burlington. In their first road doubleheader this year, the Snappers won the first game of a twin bill for just the second time in five tries. The win ended their 10-game road losing streak and won their 40th game after scoring five runs. The Snappers have now won 18 games in their final at-bat of the ballgame.
Josh Vidales, Mike Martin, and Luke Persico loaded the bases in the first inning with three singles that spanned over just six pitches from Bees starter Chris Rodriguez. Kyle Nowlin then worked a five-pitch walk to bring in Vidales for the first run of the ballgame. Rodriguez grounded out and brought home Martin to make it a two-run first for Beloit and delivered the second of his three RBI with a two-out single in the third.
Snappers starter Matt Milburn held Burlington in check for the first five innings despite seven hits allowed. The Bees struck for three in the sixth, all with two outs, to tie the game 4-4 on RBI hits by Juan Moreno and Leonardo Rivas as well as an error on shortstop Edwin Diaz.
Beloit drew six total walks and were outhit 11-6. Diaz hit his 10th homer of the season in the fourth as the fourth Snapper to reach double figures in dingers this season. Martin was the only Snappers with two hits and swiped his 24th base of the year in the first contest, his eighth against Burlington. The three RBI from Rodriguez matched a season high from June 27 at Peoria while he has collected seven in his last seven games. Nowlin walked twice for his 10th game with more than one free pass as his on-base streak reaches 18 games.
