Rome Rolls to 19-6 Win, Most Runs Allowed by Tourists This Season

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Dixon Williams had himself a night that Asheville fans will want to forget.

The Rome center fielder drove in ten runs Saturday night, the most by any player against the Tourists in 2026, as the Emperors rolled to a 19-6 win, the most runs Asheville has allowed all season. It was a blowout from the second inning on and there was very little the Tourists could do about it.

Williams was everywhere. A sacrifice fly in the first. A grand slam in the second. An RBI single in the fourth. A double in the fifth. Another home run in the ninth. Ten runs batted in across a complete offensive showcase that buried Asheville before the game was halfway done.

Parker Smith allowed nine earned runs on ten hits in four innings as Rome jumped out to a 9-1 lead through four. The second inning was the killing blow. A Luis Guanipa single set the table before Williams launched a grand slam to center to make it 7-1. From there Rome kept adding, scoring in five of the first six innings and pushing the lead to 13-1 before Asheville mounted any kind of response.

The Tourists did show some fight late. A three-run seventh inning on a John Garcia double, a DJ Newman single, and a Caden Powell double trimmed it to 13-4. Zach Daudet singled and a Newman RBI groundout added two more in the eighth to make it 13-6. But Joan Ogando was roughed up for six runs on six walks in 1.2 innings in the ninth and Rome put the game completely out of reach at 19-6. In a lighter moment, Asheville catcher Yosweld Vasquez took the mound and retired the final batter of the game.

Jack Moss went 3-for-5 for his fifth straight multi-hit game. Powell also went 3-for-5. The two of them were bright spots in an otherwise forgettable night.
