Bridgewater, New Jersey – The Somerset Patriots, the New York Yankees Double-A affiliate, have announced that Thomas Nicholas, the star of the baseball film “Rookie of the Year,” will appear at the Sunday, July 13 game. The Patriots take on the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Toronto Blue Jays) at TD Bank Ballpark at 1:05 pm.
Nicholas will throw out a ceremonial first pitch, meet fans on the main concourse during the game and lead the crowd in the singing of “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” during the 7th Inning Stretch.
Nicholas is best known for his iconic “Rookie of the Year” role as Henry Rowengartner, a 12-year-old kid who suffers a freak injury that allows him to throw heat, leading to him playing in the major leagues for the Chicago Cubs.
He has built a career spanning over three decades as an actor, producer and musician. In addition to his “Rookie of the Year” fame, Nicholas is instantly recognizable for starring roles in “A Kid in King Arthur’s Court” and the blockbuster “American Pie” franchise.
Beyond acting and producing, Nicholas is an accomplished musician, having played over 1,200 concerts in 13 countries with the Thomas Nicholas Band. His music has been featured in films and on major streaming platforms, bridging his love for storytelling between film and music.
Thomas Nicholas Wristband Procedure:
For meet and greets, the Somerset Patriots use a wristband system. Different colored wristbands will be distributed to fans at a table near section 204 Wall (next to the water fountains) when gates open. Wristbands are on a first come, first served basis and are limited in quantity while supplies last. Once they receive a wristband, fans can enjoy the game until their wristband color is called over the PA system or shown on the scoreboard. When their color is called fans can get on the meet and greet line. Once fans receive their picture/autograph, their wristband will be removed and they can go to their seats to enjoy the game.
Tickets for the July 13th game featuring Thomas Nicholas can be purchased at somersetpatriots.com, by calling (908) 252-0700 or visiting the box office located at TD Bank Ballpark.
