PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (April 1, 2026) – The St. Lucie Mets are pleased to announce their Opening Day roster for the 2026 Florida State League season. The roster features three of the Mets top 30 prospects according to MLB.com – infielder Elian Peña (No. 8), infielder Randy Guzman (No. 24) and pitcher Cam Tilly (No. 28).

Player Highlights

  • Peña is the headliner. The 18-year-old from the Dominican Republic was the No. 3 ranked player in the 2025 international class when he signed with the Mets. Peña debuted for the organization in the Dominican Summer League last year. After beginning his pro career with a 0 for 26 streak in his first nine games, Peña caught fire by hitting .342/.463/.618 with nine homers in 46 contests the rest of the way. He was the only player in the DSL to record multiple three-home run games.

  • Guzman returns to St. Lucie after playing 26 games with the team to finish 2025. Guzman impressed in his short stint with the Mets last year, batting .333 with 13 doubles, three homers and 24 RBI. He won the Florida State League Player of the Week award for the week of July 28-August 3 when he went 11 for 25 with five doubles and eight RBI in six games.

  • Tilly will make his organizational debut when he pitches during the opening series of the year. Tilly is the highest drafted player on the roster. He was selected in the seventh round out of Auburn last summer. Tilly pitched two seasons out of Auburn’s bullpen and recorded 58 strikeouts in 46 innings for the Tigers in 2025. He was a member of the World Cup winning US 18-and-under national team in 2022.

Roster Construction

  • The Mets initial roster includes 18 pitchers, three catchers, five infielders and four outfielders.

  • The roster includes six players from the 2025 draft class, eight free agents, 15 international signees and one player, pitcher Nicolas Carreño, acquired via trade with Pittsburgh.

  • The Mets return 19 players who appeared in games with St. Lucie game last year. All 19 were on the 2025 postseason roster.

Pitchers (18): Luis Álvarez, Frank Camarillo, Nicolas Carreño, Felix Cepeda, Joe Charles, José Chirinos, Jorge De Leon, Ryan Dollar, Joel Lara, Tyler McLoughlin, Ernesto Mercedes, Elwis Mijares, Christian Rodríguez, Joe Scarborough, Cam Tilly, Omar Victorino, Conner Ware, Caden Wooster.

Catchers (3): Chase Meggers, Francisco Toledo, Julio Zayas.

Infielders (5): Randy Guzman, Eddinson Paulino, Elian Peña, Sam Robertson, Kevin Villavicencio.

Outfielders (4): JT Benson, Sam Biller, Simon Juan, AJ Salgado.

The Mets are led by manager Luis Rivera, who enters his 21st season in the Mets organization as a coach or player. This will be Rivera’s second year managing St. Lucie. David Mervis is the pitching coach and Jimmy Nelson is the assistant pitching coach. Bryan Muniz is the hitting coach. Jonathon Cramman is the bench/assistant hitting coach.

The Mets will open the season on Thursday against the Palm Beach Cardinals at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Fans can listen to the internet broadcast at www.stluciemets.com starting at 6:20 p.m.
