reg Mahle (1-3) was tagged with the loss after going three innings and allowing four runs (one earned) on two hits while walking two and striking out two batters. Round Rock got out to a quick lead in the first inning using a double, a sacrifice fly and a triple to plate four runs. Bees reliever Zac Ryan replaced Mahle and pitched two innings of work, allowing three runs (two earned) to cross the plate in the fourth frame. Following Ryan was Jose Rodriguez, who held the Express scoreless in three innings pitched. Round Rock tallied three more runs in the top of the ninth off Luke Bard to take a double-digit lead.
The Bees were shutout for the sixth time this season and for the second time during the current homestand. The Round Rock pitching staff struck out ten hitters and limited Salt Lake to only four hits. Express starter Jose Urquidy (3-0) took the winning decision and turned in a quality start, tossing six innings with only three hits and no runs allowed while registering eight strikeouts. The Bees committed four fielding errors in the loss, which marked the ninth consecutive game with multiple errors.
