The Kansas City Royals announced a series of transactions on Friday that impacts the Omaha Storm Chasers roster prior to this evening's series-opening matchup versus the New Orleans Baby Cakes at Werner Park.

The Royals have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Jason Adam . Adam would become the fourth member of the 2018 Storm Chasers roster to make his Major League debut with Kansas City should he appear in a game, following pitchers Eric Stout (April 25), Trevor Oaks (April 28) and Scott Barlow (April 30).
Adam in four appearances with Omaha in 2018 accumulated a 1-0 record and did not allow an earned run in 6.2 innings of work, adding nine strikeouts. He also pitched for the Storm Chasers during the 2014 campaign, tallying a 1-1 clip and 2.35 ERA (4 ER/15.1 IP) in eight relief outings. In 126 career minor league appearances (93 starts) he has posted a 29-41 record and 4.29 ERA (267 ER/560.0 IP) with 479 punchouts. He was selected by the Royals in the fifth round of the 2010 MLB Draft out of Blue Valley Northwest High School in Kansas.
In a corresponding move, right-hander Scott Barlow has been optioned to Omaha from Kansas City. Barlow accrued no record and a 4.91 ERA (2 E/3.2 IP) in two outings with the Royals. Over three appearances (two starts) with the Storm Chasers this year he has recorded an 0-1 mark and 0.75 ERA (1 ER/12.0 IP) with 13 strikeouts.
The Storm Chasers begin an eight-game homestand this evening at Werner Park, with first pitch of the series-opener versus New Orleans set for 7:05 p.m. CT. LHP Jonathan Dziedzic (0-3, 2.10) is expected to toe the rubber for Omaha, with the Baby Cakes anticipated to send RHP Sandy Alcantara (0-1, 3.81) to the hill.
