Royals Sign Terrance Gore to 1-Year MLB Deal

The Kansas City Royals announced on Tuesday that they have signed outfielder Terrance Gore to a one-year Major League contract. Gore was acquired by the Chicago Cubs in an August 15 trade earlier this year from Kansas City after being selected in the 20th round of the 2011 MLB Draft

The Kansas City Royals announced on Tuesday that they have signed outfielder Terrance Gore to a one-year Major League contract. Gore was acquired by the Chicago Cubs in an August 15 trade earlier this year from Kansas City after being selected in the 20th round of the 2011 MLB Draft out of Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, Florida.

Gore in 67 contests with the Storm Chasers during the 2018 campaign, posting a .211 average (30-142) along with 26 runs, two doubles, two triples and five RBI while swiping bags in all but four of his 20 attempts. In his 14 games with the Cubs following the trade to Chicago, Gore was successful in all five regular season stolen base tries, in addition to stealing second and scoring as the game-tying tally in the 2018 National League Wild Card Game.
The speedster has participated in 149 career games with the Storm Chasers in his professional career, batting .232 (76-328) along with 63 runs, five doubles, five triples, one homer and 15 RBI, in addition to 40 steals in 50 attempts. In five Major League seasons he has been successful in 27 of his 31 regular season stolen base tries. Per the Royals' press release, his five postseason steals as a piunch runner are tops among active players.
In a corresponding move, the Royals designated infielder/outfielder Rosell Herrera for assignment. The Royals' Major League Reserve List remains at 40.
The Storm Chasers will host the Kansas City Royals in an exhibition game presented by Cobalt Credit Union at Werner Park on March 25, 2019 before beginning their regular season slate at Werner Park on April 9, 2018 against the Oklahoma City Dodgers.
