Charlotte started their half of the first with 2B Rikku Nishida and 1B Ryan Galanie hitting back-to-back singles. Both runners advanced 90 feet on a wild pitch following a flyout before former Red Wing DH Joey Wiemer hit a sacrifice fly, bringing in Nishida and giving the Knights an early 1-0 lead.

After two groundouts opened the Charlotte second, LF Dru Baker and RF Caden Connor followed with back-to-back singles, with Connor advancing Baker to third. Rikku Nishida then singled, his second of the night, bringing in Baker and giving Charlotte a 2-0 lead.

Following a series of scoreless frames, Rochester jumped back into the swing of things during the bottom of the sixth as Trey Lipscomb cracked an opposite-field home run to the far railing, his 23rd of the season to tie 3B Yohandy Morales for the team lead.

The Red Wings built upon their momentum after cutting the deficit to a single run, as Leandro Pineda muscled a hit between two infielders to kick off the bottom of the seventh. The bases became loaded after both SS Seaver King and DH Phillip Glasser were issued walks, prompting the Wings to knot the game at two runs apiece as Pineda rushed home on a force out. The cap was then almost blown off of ESL Ballpark moments later, when Trey Lipscomb bombed a three-run shot to the foul pole patio in right, his second of the game to give the Red Wings a 5-2 lead.

The score remained at a standstill for the remainder of the game, as robust defense from the Red Wings took precedence. The team secured a three-run victory, achieving their 70th victory of the season.
