Romero Jr. Homers Twice, Rochester Picks Up Game Three Victory 

Looking to build off of their 8-1 win on Wednesday, the Rochester Red Wings (20-16, 65-44) came back from a 5-2 deficit, scoring eight unanswered runs to win 10-5. C Maxwell Romero Jr. homered twice and drove in four runs as part of a three-hit effort, while SS Trey Lipscomb notched his third consecutive multi-hit game. 1B Riley Adams extended his hitting streak to 10 games, going 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI.

Rochester produced the first two runs of the game in the opening inning after 3B Phillip Glasser walked, followed by an infield single by Trey Lipscomb, which sent Glasser to second. Shortly after, 2B Cayden Wallace logged an infield single of his own, loading the bases for the Red Wings. CF Sam Petersen would go on to draw a walk, allowing Glasser to trot home. With Maxwell Romero Jr. batting, Lipscomb would be given a pass to walk home after a balk, giving Rochester an early 2-0 advantage.

Scranton/WB responded in the third after 1B Ernesto Martinez Jr. walked and stole second base immediately after. Following a batter timeout, RF Max Schuemann sent Martinez Jr. home after shooting an RBI double to left field, slicing the Wings' lead in half at 2-1.

The RailRiders found the equalizing run in the fourth with a series of events that began with 2B Marco Luciano walking, followed by a sacrifice bunt that led him to second. Luciano made his way to third base after a groundout, and 3B Tyler Hardman delivered an RBI single to left field, leading Luciano all the way home to tie the game at two runs apiece.

Scranton/WB took the lead with a productive fifth inning that began with a line drive single to right field by LF Kenedy Corona. CF Duke Ellis followed this up with a double to left field, allowing Corona to reach third. On the next pitch, Max Schuemann blasted a three-run homer to center field, putting the RailRiders up 5-3 entering the sixth.

The Red Wings did not wait long to respond, as Maxwell Romero Jr. led the sixth off with a solo homer to center field. Shortly after, DH Kyle Hayes sent a single to left field, followed by LF Johnathon Thomas getting hit by a pitch, sending Hayes to second. Phillip Glasser would go on to walk, threatening Scranton with the bases loaded.

Following a pitching change, Rochester regained the lead in their sixth-inning surge as Trey Lipscomb drove in an RBI single to center field, allowing Hayes and Thomas to score. Riley Adams continued the Wings' productive half-inning by launching an RBI double to right field, sending Glasser and Lipscomb to home plate. After several batter timeouts and a mound visit, Romero Jr. sustained his successful outing with an RBI double of his own to right field, sending Adams to home plate, putting the Red Wings up 8-5.

The Red Wings extended their lead in the eighth after Sam Petersen sent a single to left field, followed by Maxwell Romero Jr’s bat remaining red hot after smashing a two-run homer to right field, putting Rochester up 10-5.

Rochester closed out their 65th win of the season in the ninth and took control of the series with a final score of 10-5.

RHP Luis Perales made his 18th start in 2026 this evening. Perales allowed five runs on five hits and walked two batters while striking out four in 5.0 innings of work. RHP Riley Cornelio replaced Perales in the sixth. In 2.0 innings, Cornelio did not give up a run or hit, and walked two batters while striking out four. RHP Eddy Yean came in to pitch in the eighth. Yean put in 1.0 inning of work and allowed one hit, no runs, and threw two strikeouts. RHP Jack Sinclair looked to wrap things up for Rochester in the ninth and sealed their 20th win of the 2nd half with a scoreless ninth inning on one hit with a strikeout.

The Rochester Red Wings Player of the Game is C Maxwell Romero Jr. The Florida native notched his fourth career multi-homer game a night after launching his first Triple-A home run, going 3-for-4 while adding a double, four RBI, a walk, and two runs scored. He has now picked up a hit in four of his last five games dating back to July 31, going 7-for-20 (.350) over that stretch.

The Red Wings will proceed with their road trip in Scranton/WB on Friday evening with the first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. once again. The Railriders will roll out RHP Adam Kloffenstein (2-7, 5.06) as Rochester looks to win three-straight and guarantee at least a series split.
