El Paso, Texas (Wednesday, August 21) - The El Paso Chihuahuas (75-53) nipped the Fresno Grizzlies (56-72) 9-8 Wednesday night from Southwest University Park. El Paso scored three runs in the ninth without recording an out to win the rubber match. Austin Allen was the recipient of the walk-off as he singled to deep right. Gerardo Reyes (3-1) enjoyed the victory while Michael Blazek (2-2) suffered the defeat.
Aderlin Rodriguez jump-started the Chihuahuas offense with a three-run wallop in the first. It was his 18th dinger of the season. Rodriguez finished the evening with four RBI and three runs, including the game-winner. Two other starters in Michael Gettys and Seth Mejias-Brean plated a pair of runs with Gettys supplying two hits. El Paso also received three knocks from Boog Powell.
Raudy Read highlighted the Grizzlies offense with a two-clout affair. The catcher spanked solo shots in the fourth and ninth inning. Read has now logged a pair of multi-homer games this year with the other coming on June 2nd. Matt Reynolds added three hits in the loss. Reynolds knocked in two runs and scored once. Ben Braymer did not factor in the decision. The lefty hurled six strong frames, allowing three runs and fanning five.
