With the game scoreless in the top of the ninth, Dale Burdick drew a leadoff walk from Austin Maddox (L, 0-1). After Champ Stuart bunted Burdick to second and Luis Guillorme singled, Nido provided the game-winning hit for Binghamton. Kevin Taylor provided insurance later in the inning with a sac fly to score Guillorme.

Corey Oswalt (ND) was excellent in the start for Binghamton. Oswalt went seven scoreless and allowed four hits while walking three and striking out four. Oswalt lowered his ERA to 2.04 on the season.

Kevin McAvoy (ND) was just as good and worked one of the best starts of the year by a Sea Dogs' starting pitcher. McAvoy threw a season-high seven shutout innings and allowed just two hits while walking one and tying a season-high with six strikeouts. McAvoy faced just one batter over the minimum thanks to two double plays and threw 78 pitches.

Kyle Regnault (W, 1-0) worked a scoreless eighth and earned the win in relief for Binghamton. Alberto Baldonado (S, 5) closed the game, working around a one-out walk to Devers to earn his fifth save of the year.

The runs allowed by Maddox in the ninth were the first he's allowed in the 2017 season.
The two clubs meet again tomorrow night for a 6:00 PM start at Hadlock Field. RHP Teddy Stankiewicz (1-0, 3.19) and RHP Casey Delgado (1-4, 8.03) square off for Portland and Binghamton respectively.
