Sacramento Walks to Win over Dodgers

West Sacramento, Calif. - The Sacramento River Cats drew five consecutive walks with two outs in the seventh inning to break a tie game and lead the way to a 7-4 win over the Oklahoma City Dodgers Tuesday night at Raley Field.
 
The Dodgers (33-21) had just rallied for three runs to pull into a 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh inning when things went south in the bottom half of the frame. After the first two batters struck out, OKC shortstop Michael Ahmed committed a fielding error to allow the inning to continue.
Each of the next five Sacramento batters proceeded to walk, including bases-loaded walks to Caleb Gindl, Orlando Calixte and Ryan Hanigan, as the River Cats went in front, 6-3.
The Dodgers pitching staff issued a season-high nine walks on the night, with seven of them by the bullpen over just two innings. The River Cats (29-30) drew two more walk in the eighth inning in addition to two singles and another error by Ahmed to stretch the lead to 7-3.
The Dodgers had the bases empty with two outs in the ninth inning before rallying. Each of the next three batters reached base, including a RBI single by Angelo Mora - his fourth hit of the night.
OKC sent Edwin Ríos to pinch hit and represent the tying run, but he struck out to end the game.
Sacramento took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a RBI triple by Eury Pérez. The River Cats added to their lead in the fifth inning. After pitcher Daniel Camarena led off with a single - his first career hit - Steven Duggar followed with a two-run homer to left-center field making it a 3-0 advantage.
The Dodgers were kept scoreless until the seventh inning. After pinch hitter Kyle Garlick reached on an error, Tim Locastro followed with a RBI double. Later in the inning with the bases loaded and two outs, Matt Beaty was hit by a pitch to pull OKC within 3-2. Mora then evened the score with a RBI infield single.
River Cats reliever Taylor Rogers (1-0) allowed both of his inherited runners to score in the seventh inning to tie the game, but he ended up with the win. Dodgers reliever Chad Girodo (0-1) took the loss, as he was charge with two of the three runs to score in the seventh, although both were unearned.
