KINSTON, North Carolina (June 1, 2019) - Down East downed Salem in shutout fashion for the second time this season, 7-0 in the series finale at Grainger Stadium on Saturday Night.

How it Happened
* Daniel Gonzalez started the night for the Sox on the mound and went 5 and 2/3 innings while striking out 7 Wood Ducks at the plate.
* Down East got on board in the 2nd inning with a solo home run to right center field by J.P. Martinez. The Wood Ducks now scoring 1st for the 8th straight game and making the score 1-0.
* The next time the Woodies crossed the plate was in the 6th, after a wild pitch and a bases clearing triple by Hasuan Viera, 4 more runs were pushed home with the score now 5-0.
* Rio Gomez came in for relief on the bump in the 6th and went 1 and 1/3 scoreless innings while fanning 2 Down East batters.
* Once more the Wood Ducks upped the score with another home run in the 8th. This time a two-run blast by Sam Huff, score now 7-0 in favor of Down East shutting out Salem for the second time this season.

Noteworthy

* Tanner Nishioka had a 1-for-3 night with his 1st stolen bag of the season in the 8th inning.
