San Antonio’s Offense Quieted by Frisco’s Bullpen

FRISCO, Texas (Aug. 15, 2026) — A bullpen game that saw two Frisco pitchers make their Double-A debut resulted in a 7-1 victory for the Frisco RoughRiders (23-21) over the San Antonio Missions (20-24). The Missions took the lead in the first, but the RoughRiders scored seven unanswered runs to ride away comfortably as San Antonio stranded 14 runners on base.

Tirso Ornelas, the second batter of the game, splashed a ball into the lazy river to give the Missions a 1-0 lead against Frisco opener Joey Danielson. However, Frisco’s second batter of the game, Dylan Dreiling, also lifted a homer over the short porch in left to quickly tie things at one against Missions starter Matthew Watson.

Danielson only continued for one more inning before turning the game to Brock Porter. The righty, making his first Double-A start, walked six batters but only allowed one hit and struck out five in 3.2 relief innings. He consistently danced around danger to keep the Missions off the board.

Meanwhile, while Watson kept the game tied into the fourth, Frisco’s offense took off in that inning. Rafe Perich golfed an opposite-field homer to hand Frisco a 2-1 lead, an advantage they only built upon. A Sebastian Walcott RBI double and Frainyer Chavez sacrifice fly made it 4-1 Frisco after five, though a nice diving grab by Alex McCoy in right did keep a pair more in scoring position.

The final blow came in the seventh by Dreiling again. Facing Clay Edmondson, Dreiling sent out a three-run homer to balloon Frisco’s lead to 7-1.

San Antonio had an opportunity to creep closer in the eighth against Ben DeTaeye, also making his Double-A debut. The lefty tiptoed around trouble, however, and kept the six-run edge for the RoughRiders. Janser Lara then entered for the ninth and shut things down for good in Frisco’s favor with three strikeouts.
