Clinton, IA (July 13, 2018) - Ariel Sandoval's 11th home run of the season was enough for the Clinton LumberKings to end the longest losing streak of the season in a 1-0 win over the Great Lakes Loons on Friday night at Ashford University Field. The game featured two delays totaling two hours and 19 minutes of stoppage and four LumberKings (10-11, 49-42) pitchers combined to earn their sixth shutout win of the season.
The game started 46 minutes after the scheduled start time due to rain and began with Ryne Inman taking the ball for Clinton. Inman worked just two innings before the second delay of the night, one hour and 30 minutes, forced him from the game.
Tyler Jackson followed Inman out of the bullpen and continued to keep the Loons (5-17, 29-61) out of the run column with four shutout innings of relief. For his time Jackson (1-0) earned his first win of the season while allowing four hits and striking out three.
Kyle Wilcox contributed two shutout innings of relief while striking out five Loons during his time out and earned his first hold of the season.
Sam Delaplane earned his team leading sixth save of the season with a drama free 1-2-3 ninth inning ending a losing streak that had reached eight games.
