Saucedo's gem gives Bisons 3-2 win

Making his first career Triple-A start, Tayler Saucedo tossed five shutout innings to lead the Bisons to a 3-2 victory on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Sahlen Field. Jonathan Davis added a home run onto Oak St. as the Herd finished their eight-game homestand with a 5-3 record.
Saucedo, who joined the Bisons just a week ago from Double-A New Hampshire, already has a pair of Triple-A victories to his name. The southpaw threw 3.1 innings of shutout baseball in relief last Tuesday and put up five more scoreless frames against the IronPigs in his first ever start at this level. 
On Sunday, Saucedo allowed just four base runners and erased two of them with inning ending doubleplays. Ten of the outs he recorded came on the ground and he needed just 58 pitches to get through five innings. Of those 58 pitches he threw, 41, or 71% of them, went for strikes.
The Bisons gave him an early lead to work with, two pitches into the bottom of the first inning. Jonathan Davis launched a 1-0 offering from Drew Anderson over the protective netting in left field and onto Oak St. for his third home run of the season.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr and Cavan Biggio added singles in the first inning and Richard Ureña made it 2-0 Buffalo with a sacrifice fly to right.
The Herd scored a much-needed insurance run in the sixth inning as Reese McGuire took advantage of getting the green light on 3-0, lining an RBI-single to centerfield to score Biggio.
Cavan finished the game 2-4 with a stolen base and a run scored. He's now hitting .341 on the young season.
Another newcomer, lefty Kirby Snead, tossed 1.2 innings of scoreless relief in his Bisons debut. Justin Shafer recorded the final out of the game for his second save of the season.
The Bisons have an off day on Monday before traveling out of their division for the first time this season. A Gwinnett-Norfolk roadtrip begins on Tuesday at Coolray Field in Georgia.
