Fresno center fielder Alejandro Garcia  smacked a two-run homer and third baseman Jack Mayfield  broke an eighth-inning stalemate with a go-ahead RBI double to center, while Omaha designated hitter Frank Schwindel  extended his hit streak to seventeen games in the Grizzlies' 6-4 triumph over the Storm Chasers on Monday evening at Werner Park.

Fresno center fielder Alejandro Garcia  smacked a two-run homer and third baseman Jack Mayfield  broke an eighth-inning stalemate with a go-ahead RBI double to center, while Omaha designated hitter Frank Schwindel  extended his hit streak to seventeen games in the Grizzlies' 6-4 triumph over the Storm Chasers on Monday evening at Werner Park.

Both teams traded a pair of tallies in the first, with Schwindel extending promptly extending his hit streak in his first at-bat via a two-run single to left to nod the contest even at 2-2. Fresno immediately countered courtesy of Garcia's two-run blast to left, with Omaha then getting one of those runs right back when 3B Corey Toups crushed a solo shot to left to cut the Grizzlies' advantage to 4-3 in the second.<o:p>
After Schwindel collected his second knock of the evening with a single, RF Logan Moon evened the bout by driving an RBI double into the right-center field gap in the sixth. Mayfield eventually put Fresno ahead for good in the eighth, before the Grizzlies added an insurance tally in the ninth.<o:p>
Schwindel (3-4, R, 2B, 2 RBI) led all batters with his three hits, joined by Moon, as well as Omaha CF Billy Burns (2-4, R) and 2B Dean Anna in posting multi-hit efforts. Grizzlies 2B Tony Kemp (2-5, R, 2B) was the lone batter from his side to record two or more knocks. During his 17-game hit streak, Schwindel has compiled a .446 average (33-74) with 16 runs, eight doubles, eight homers and 24 RBI.<o:p>
Storm Chasers pitchers at one point retired 13 consecutive batters from the fourth inning into the eighth, however Omaha relief man Sam Selman (2.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K) suffered the defeat. Righty Kevin Lenik (3.0 IP, 2 K) tossed three perfect frames in support of starter Eric Skoglund (4.0 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 2 K). Grizzlies relief man James Hoyt (2.0 IP, 2 H, 4 K) earned the victory with two shutout frames, with Jumbo Díaz (1.0 IP, 2 BB) notching the save.<o:p>
Omaha and Fresno are set to complete their four-game set with a Tuesday matinee, with first pitch scheduled for 12:05 p.m. CT. The Storm Chasers are expected to give the ball to RHP Jake Junis (2-5, 3.05), with the Grizzlies anticipated to send LHP Kent Emanuel (1-0, 4.61) to the hill.<o:p>
