Former Storm Chasers southpaw pitcher Scott Alexander is on the move, having been acquired by the Los Angeles Dodgers, as part of a three-team trade announced by the Kansas City Royals on Thursday evening.

Alexander has pitched with Omaha over each of the past four seasons, including as part of a Major League Rehab Assignment in 2017. In 81 career appearances with the Storm Chasers, the lefty compiled a 6-5 record and 3.38 ERA (45 ER/120.0 IP), adding 15 saves. He earned MiLB.com Organization All-Star honors at the conclusion of the 2015 campaign after leading all Pacific Coast League relief pitchers in batting average against (.209) while also allowing the fewest baserunners per nine innings (9.38) in that group.
Alexander enjoyed a solid 2017 campaign with Kansas City, posting a 5-4 record and 2.48 ERA (19 ER/69.0 IP) with four saves over 58 relief outings. He owned a 1.30 WHIP while holding opponents to a .246 batting average. In three Major League seasons with the Royals between 2015-17, the southpaw accrued a 5-4 record and 2.78 ERA (29 ER/94.0 IP) with four saves, along with 78 strikeouts. He made his Major League debut with Kansas City on September 2, 2015 versus the Detroit Tigers.
Coming back in the deal to Kansas City from the Dodgers organization are right-hander Trevor Oaks and infielder Erick Mejia . Oaks has pitched for Los Angeles' Triple-A affiliate Oklahoma City and has faced the Storm Chasers twice in that time period, combining for a 2-0 mark and 2.77 ERA (4 ER/13.0 IP) with 13 strikeouts. Mejia played all but one of his 103 games in 2017 with Double-A Tulsa, tallying a .289 average (103-356) with 61 runs, 17 doubles, three triples, seven homers and 30 RBI, adding 25 steals in 29 attempts. He was acquired by the Dodgers in a January 2016 trade from the Seattle Mariners.
It's early, but is possible both Oaks and Mejia could wear a Storm Chasers uniform at some point during the 2018 season. Following their Exhibition Game versus the Kansas City Royals presented by SAC Federal Credit Union on Monday, March 26, Omaha begins their 50th Season in Franchise History on Thursday, April 5 versus the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at 6:35 p.m. CT at Werner Park.
