Scribner Named 2017 Triple-A All-Star

SALT LAKE CITY (June 28, 2017) -Salt Lake pitcher Troy Scribner has been chosen to represent the Bees in the 2017 Triple-A All Star Game, the Pacific Coast League announced today. Scribner is the lone representative from the first-place Bees.

SALT LAKE CITY (June 28, 2017) -Salt Lake pitcher Troy Scribner has been chosen to represent the Bees in the 2017 Triple-A All Star Game, the Pacific Coast League announced today. Scribner is the lone representative from the first-place Bees.

Scribner, 25, was acquired by the Angels in a trade from the Houston Astros on April 1, 2016. The Sacred Heart University product is the PCL leader in pitcher wins (8) and winning percentage (.800) entering Wednesday night and also leads the Bees in innings pitched (70.2) and strikeouts (69) while holding a 4.58 ERA. Scribner made his Triple-A debut with the Bees on July 30, 2016, firing a complete game shutout at Sacramento and was named PCL Pitcher of the Week for the effort. Following the season he was named a 2016 MiLB.com Angels Organization All-Star.
The right-hander is the 35th Triple-A All-Star in franchise history. Other notable Salt Lake All-Stars include Kaleb Cowart (2016), Jett Bandy (2015), Kole Calhoun (2012), Mark Trumbo (2010), Howie Kendrick (2006) and Todd Walker (2000). Scribner is the first Salt Lake pitcher to make the Triple-A All-Star game since reliever Jeremy Hill in 2009 and first starter since Joe Saunders in 2006. Overall Scribner is the sixth pitcher to make the All-Star game in Salt Lake history joining Scott Watkins (1995), Travis Baptist (1998), Dusty Bergman (2005), Saunders and Hill.  
The 30th Annual Triple-A All-Star Game will be held at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, Washington. The game will be broadcast nationally on MLB Network starting at 7:00 p.m. MT on Wednesday, July 12.
Scribner will get the start for the Bees on the mound tonight at Smith's Ballpark as Salt Lake continues its homestand. The Bees remain at home until Monday July 3 with fireworks shows following the games on Friday, Saturday and Monday night. More information about the team is available at www.slbees.com
