Sea Dogs Blast Four Home Runs in 9-2 Win

Portland, Maine- The Sea Dogs (32-36) had 14 hits - including a season-high four home runs - and clobbered the Harrisburg Senators (30-41) 9-2 on Friday night at Hadlock Field.

Portland, Maine- The Sea Dogs (32-36) had 14 hits - including a season-high four home runs - and clobbered the Harrisburg Senators (30-41) 9-2 on Friday night at Hadlock Field.

Michael Chavis and Chad De La Guerra made their Double-A debuts for Portland and each had an immediate impact on the lineup. Chavis hit a towering fly ball for a home run over the Maine Monster on the first pitch he saw from Kyle McGowin in the second inning to give Portland the early lead. He finished 2-for-4 with a walk, RBI, and two runs scored. De La Guerra went 3-for-4 with two infield singles, an RBI, and run scored.
 
Sea Dogs' starter Kevin McAvoy (2-5) earned his second victory and threw his sixth quality start of the season. McAvoy allowed two unearned runs on four hits in six innings while walking three and striking out six.  
 
McGowin (0-2) was handed the loss, allowing eight runs on 11 hits in five innings.
 
Tzu-Wei Lin, Jeremy Barfield, and Jake Romanski each homered for Portland in the victory. Lin also tripled and scored on a throwing error to lead off the sixth inning. Eight of the 14 Sea Dogs' hits were for extra bases. Lin, Chavis, De La Guerra, and Romanski each had multi-hit games.
 
Luis Ysla pitched two scoreless innings of relief and fanned three, Bobby Poyner worked a scoreless ninth to close out the ballgame.
 
The Sea Dogs and Senators continue their series tomorrow evening, first pitch from Hadlock Field is scheduled for 6:00 PM. RHP Teddy Stankiewicz (2-3, 4.41) is scheduled to start for Portland against RHP Derek Eitel (2-2, 3.62) for Harrisburg.
