Sea Dogs end season with 11-4 loss to Fisher Cats

Portland, Maine- The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (59-80) were powered by four home runs and defeated the Sea Dogs (65-74) 11-4 in the 2017 season finale on Labor Day at Hadlock Field.

The Sea Dogs complete the 2017 season in fourth place in the Eastern Division while New Hampshire wound up in sixth.
 
Matt Dean had three hits - including two home runs - for New Hampshire. Gunnar Heidt finished 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Harold Ramirez reached base four times and drove in a run while scoring two.
 
New Hampshire jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a double by Derrick Loveless and a two-out RBI single by Harold Ramirez off of Kevin McAvoy.
 
Portland tied the game in the bottom of the second on a solo shot by Michael Chavis off of Sean Reid-Foley. The homer was Chavis' 14th with Portland and 31st of the year.
 
The Sea Dogs took the lead in the third on a two-run homer by Cole Sturgeon to make it 3-1.
 
New Hampshire answered in the fourth with three more runs off of McAvoy to reclaim the lead at 4-3. Two of the runs were unearned as the result of an error by Chad De La Guerra.
 
Reid-Foley (10-11) allowed three runs on six hits and claimed the victory. The righty walked one and struck out nine.
 
McAvoy (6-9) went five innings in his start and allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits while walking one and fanning three.
 
Sturgeon doubled off of Conner Greene in the seventh to cut the deficit to 6-4 and finished the game a triple shy of the cycle with three RBIs.
 
The 'Cats added four more runs in the eighth off on a double by Emilio Guerrero and back-to-back homers by Heidt and Dean to make it 10-4.
 
Sea Dogs' catcher Danny Bethea entered the game in the ninth inning in his first career pitching appearance and allowed a solo homer to Lourdes Gurriel Jr..
 
The game was watched by 7,225 fans. The Sea Dogs welcomed 356,153 fans through the turnstiles at Hadlock Field this season.
