Sea Dogs hit five home runs in doubleheader sweep of SeaWolves

Portland, Maine - The Sea Dogs (45-63) clubbed five home runs over two games and swept their doubleheader over the Erie SeaWolves (51-58) by scores of 9-1 and 5-0 on Thursday afternoon at Hadlock Field. With the doubleheader sweep, Portland won the three-game series.

GAME 1 RECAP
The Sea Dogs were powered by four long home runs by Josh Ockimey, Luke Tendler, Michael Chavis, and Chad De La Guerra to take game one 9-1.
Ockimey hit a solo shot 438 feet to straightaway center in the second inning off of SeaWolves' starter Spencer Turnbull (L, 4-6) to put Portland on the board. Later in the inning, Tendler drove in a run on a single to make it 2-0 'Dogs.
Ockimey doubled in another run in the third before Luke Tendler hit a 418-foot blast over the Sea Dogs' bullpen atop the right field wall to make it 6-0.
Chavis' home run came with two outs in the fourth and traveled 421 feet to center field off of Joe Navilhon.
De La Guerra hit a 401-foot blast off the roof of the indoor hitting cage in right field off of Trent Szkutnik in the sixth inning to extend the Portland lead to 9-1.
Matt Kent (7-7) worked six innings to earn the victory. The southpaw allowed just one run on five hits while walking one and fanning four.
GAME 2 RECAP
Kyle Hart threw a complete game two-hitter and carried the Sea Dogs to a 5-0 win to complete the doubleheader sweep and series victory.
Hart (W, 7-7) allowed just two hits while walking two and striking out five in his outing.
The Sea Dogs scored their first two runs of the game without a hit - Jordan Betts scored on a wild pitch by Beau Burrows in the second, then Chad De La Guerra was hit by a pitch from Burrows with the bases loaded in the fourth to make it 2-0 Portland.
Austin Rei cleared the Maine Monster with a two-run homer in the fifth off of Caleb Thielbar to pad the Portland lead.
Ockimey continued his great day, adding an RBI double in the sixth to extend the lead to 6-0.
Burrows allowed two runs on four hits over 3.2 innings, walking four and striking out five.
The Sea Dogs and Richmond Flying Squirrels (Giants affiliate) open up a three-game series on Friday night beginning at 7:00 PM at Hadlock Field. Lefty Dedgar Jimenez (6-6, 4.90) takes on Right-hander Jake McCasland (3-3, 3.69). Radio coverage begins at 6:45 PM on the WPEI U.S. Cellular Sea Dogs Radio Network. MiLB.TV starts at 6.55.
