Portland, Maine - The Sea Dogs (6-8) rode excellent pitching from Bryan Mata and Daniel McGrath and swept a doubleheader over the Trenton Thunder (7-8) on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field. Portland won game one 7-1 and took game two 1-0.

GAME 1 RECAP
The Sea Dogs batted around in the bottom of the first and scored five unearned runs off of Albert Abreu en route to a 7-1 win.

Portland sent 10 men to the plate in the first and was bailed out by a strikeout/wild pitch and a throwing error by Gosuke Katoh. Jhon Nunez singled in a run to get the scoring started, two batters later Brett Netzer worked bases-loaded walk to make it 2-0. Luke Tendler provided the big blow with a three-run double.

Bryan Mata (W, 1-0) made his Double-A debut and was fantastic. The 20-year-old allowed one run on five hits in six innings while walking two and striking out five.

Abreu (L, 4-7) was charged with five unearned runs on four hits in two-thirds of an inning.

GAME 2 RECAP
Daniel McGrath worked five scoreless innings and the Sea Dogs took game two 1-0. The shutout victory was the seventh of the season for Portland.

McGrath (W, 2-0) went five scoreless and allowed just two hits while fanning six and walking three.

The Sea Dogs won the game despite notching just one hit. Luke Tendler led off the second inning with a walk from Nick Nelson. After a groundout and another walk by Brett Netzer, Charlie Madden singled to right field to plate Tendler and give the Sea Dogs the winning run.

Nelson (L, 2-2) went six, one-hit innings and struck out a season-high 11 batters.

Dedgar Jimenez (S, 1) earned his first career save. The lefty pitched two scoreless innings to close out the ballgame.

Portland and Trenton conclude their four-game series on Wednesday night with a 6:00 PM first pitch. RHP Denyi Reyes (2-9, 4.66) makes his 16th start of the season for Portland and RHP Garrett Whitlock (3-2, 2.89) is on the mound for Trenton.
