Erie's Dawel Lugo blasted a solo home run in the first inning to give the SeaWolves the early 1-0 advantage. The SeaWolves belted three solo homers to power past the RubberDucks.
Winging It
Akron left hander Matt Whitehouse suffered the loss Thursday, working 4.2 innings, allowing five earned runs on eight hits. Whitehouse gave up three solo home runs in his outing that was the deciding factor in the RubberDucks loss. In relief for the Akron, Mitch Brown worked 2.1 scoreless with four strikeouts and Dylan Baker worked one inning recording three strikeouts. Erie's Tyler Alexander earned his eighth win of the season working 6.2 innings allowing three earned runs while striking out six.
Duck Tales
Akron scored all three runs in the seventh innings. Infielder Tyler Krieger hit a two-run triple to put Akron on the board in the seventh inning. The Ducks scored again in the seventh when utility man Todd Hankins lifted a sacrifice fly to score Krieger. Outfielder Greg Allen and Infielder Joe Sever each went 2-for-4 with a double to have the only multi-hit games for the RubberDucks. Erie belted three solo homers by Dawel Lugo, Gabriel Quintana, and A.J. Simcox.
