Seawolves Coming To Somerset With Top Tigers Prospects

Bridgewater, New Jersey- The Erie Seawolves (Detroit Tigers), are on their way to Somerset with three of the Tigers' top prospects: Spencer Torkelson, Riely Greene and Dillon Dingler.

Torkelson, the number five overall prospect on Baseball America and the Tigers' top prospect, plays first base for the Seawolves. He was the first overall pick in the 2020 draft out of Arizona State University and played in 31 High-A games before getting the call to Erie on June 14th. He currently has a .282 batting average and according to Baseball America has the best strike-zone discipline in the Tiger's farm system. In his 189 total minor league plate appearances, he has struck out just 35 times, giving him a strikeout percentage of 5.4%. Baseball America also lists Torkelson as the top Detroit prospect in hitting for average and power.

Greene, the number nine overall prospect, will also be coming to Somerset. The fifth-ranked Tigers prospect (Baseball America) has the best outfield arm in the Tigers system and will most likely see time in center field. Greene has been with the SeaWolves all season and leads the team with eight home runs. He also sports a .269 batting average.

Dingler is the Tigers' seventh-ranked prospect (Baseball America) and their top-ranked catcher. He has thrown out 60% of runners attempting a steal and has not recorded a passed ball in his professional career. Offensively, Dingler is swinging a .316 since joining Erie on June 14th. With the West Michigan Whitecaps, the High-A affiliate, he had 24 RBI and eight home runs.

Fans can anticipate seeing a face-off of future baseball stars at TD Bank Ballpark from July 6th through 11th, with Luis Medina, Oswald Peraza and Diego Castillo leading the Patriots in their series against the SeaWolves.
