Montgomery, Ala. - The Generals could not figure out Montgomery again Monday night, losing the finale at Riverwalk Stadium 5-3. The Generals were swept in a five-game set for the first time all season, and they are now eight games back of the Biscuits with just 20 games left in the regular season.
Jackson (23-27, 60-60) finishes the year with just five wins in 20 games versus Montgomery (31-19, 68-52). In the series, the Biscuits outscored the Generals 45-15. Jackson drops to .500 on the season, though they have not had a losing record at any point in 2017.

Alex Young (8-7, 3.94) pitched well in defeat, working into the seventh inning. He allowed just two runs on five hits, though he did walk a season-high seven. As a team, the Generals issued 10 walks for the second time in the series against the Biscuits. Young allowed a run in the first on a Joe McCarthy single and another in the fifth on a Grant Kay sacrifice fly.
The game was largely decided in the eighth, when Montgomery scored three runs against Jackson's Josh Taylor. Already up 2-1, Grant Kay drove in Jake Cronenworth to make it a two-run game. Later in the frame with two outs and the bases loaded, Justin Williams dropped a single into left field that scored a pair.
Down 5-1, the Generals made it a ballgame in the ninth. With one on and two out, Michael Perez smashed a two-run pinch-hit home run to right field that cut the deficit to two. Emilio Bonifácio capped off a three-hit night with a single to get the tying run to the plate, but Brandon Lowe robbed Victor Reyes of a knock to end the game.
José Mujica (11-8, 3.20) earned his 11th win of the season for Montgomery, allowing just one run in five innings. The Generals scored in the fifth inning to tie the game at one. Galli Cribbs Jr. walked and moved to third on a Bonifacio double. Reyes got Cribbs home with a groundout to get Jackson on the board, but Montgomery scored a run in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead right back.
