Amarillo, Texas (September 4, 2023) – On Monday, Sod Poodles infielder Seth Beer was named Texas League Player of the Week for August 29 – September 3. The lefty bat slugged his way to the award after finishing his week against Midland 10-for-19 (.526) with four home runs, two doubles, eight RBI, and nine runs scored. Beer not only led the Texas League in AVG, home runs, SLG (1.263), OPS (1.854), and runs but finished first in all MiLB for the week in SLG, and was T-1st in home runs, second in OPS, and T-5th in AVG.

Beer recorded the first three-home run game of his professional career on September 1, and it was just the third three-home run game in Sod Poodles franchise history. He joined A.J. Vukovich who had one earlier in the year on July 1 vs. Tulsa, and Edward Olivares, who had the first in team history on May 5, 2019.

Beer was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks on July 31, 2019, from the Houston Astros along with RHP Corbin Martin, RHP J.B. Bukauskas, and INF Josh Rojas in exchange for RHP Zack Greinke. Beer made his MLB debut with the D-backs on September 10, 2021, and appeared in 43 games with Arizona across the 2021 and 2022 seasons. In 73 games with Double-A Amarillo in 2023, Beer is hitting .292 with 18 doubles, 12 home runs, and 49 RBI at the time of his Texas League Player of the Week award. He is now a two-time winner of the Texas League Player of the Week, also taking home the award on July 7, 2019, with Corpus Christi. Beer, a former first-round draft pick was also named Texas League Player of the Moth in July 2019 with the Hooks.

Beer joins Bryce Jarvis, Chad Patrick, Caleb Roberts, Neyfy Castillo, and Ryan Bliss as Sod Poodles who have earned Texas League honors so far this season. Jarvis was named Texas League Pitcher of the Week on April 23 with Patrick being named Texas League Pitcher of the Week for May 22-28. Roberts was named Player of the Week for August 26-July 2, while Neyfy Castillo won the award just two weeks ago on August 21. Bliss was named the league’s Player of the Month for both April and May.

The Sod Poodles are set to begin a six-game road trip, their final road series of the 2023 regular season on Tuesday, September 5 against the Arkansas Travelers.
