SHUCKERS LICK LOOKOUTS WITH NINE RUNS: The Shuckers set a season high with nine runs in a 9-3 victory over the Chattanooga Lookouts on Thursday...eight Shuckers had hits, and five different players drove in a run...Art Charles drove in three runs in his return to the lineup...Mauricio Dubon's hitting streak was snapped at 11 games...Taylor Jung­mann walked five and stranded six runners on base over four scoreless innings...Forrest Snow picked up his third win in relief...the Pensacola Blue Wahoos walked off the BayBears to keep a one-game lead in the South Division.
PLAYING THE HITS: Shuckers infielder Mauricio Dubón and Lookouts infielder Nick Gordon are in first and second place on the Southern League hits leaderboard...Dubon has 49, and Gordon has 48...both players were hitless in the series opener on Thursday.
DON'T CALL ME JUNIOR: Milwaukee Brewers Opening Day starter Junior Guerra made the first of two rehab starts Monday night, pitching five innings...he is scheduled to make Saturday's start against Chattanooga before returning to the big league club...the righty was 9-3 with a 2.81 ERA for the Brewers last year...he suffered a right calf injury on Opening Day while running out of the batter's box on a bunt.
ROSTER REMIX: The Brewers promoted RHP Angel Ventura to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Wednesday morning...Ventura had gone 1-4 with a 3.00 ERA in seven appearances (five starts) for the Shuckers...infielder Wendell Rijo was called up from Advanced-A Carolina to bring the roster back to 25 players (plus Guerra on MLB rehab)...in addition, the Brewers sent C Natanael Mejia (0 for 1) to the Rookie-Helena roster and promoted RHP Javi Salas to Biloxi from extend­ed spring training...Mejia is expected to remain with the club while inactive.

AGAINST THE LOOKOUTS: The Shuckers are 13-11 all-time against the Lookouts, with a 6-4 record at MGM Park...the Lookouts took 3 of 5 from the Shuckers in April...the two teams met in the 2015 Southern League Championship, with the Lookouts winning in five games.
GRAND THEFT: Infielder Mauricio Dubon leads the Southern League with 22 stolen bases this season, including four in his April 15 game against Pensacola...outfielder Johnny Davis ranks second in the league with 11 swipes in 11 attempts...the team's 52 stolen bases rank second in the Southern League.
A LOOK BACK: The Shuckers finished 2016 with a 72-67 record, just missing out on the playoffs a year after making it to the Southern League championship...they finished 1.5 games back of Pensacola in the first half with a 39-30 record, and despite a last-place (33-37) finish in the second half finished just 1.5 games behind Mississippi for second place overall in the South Division...RHP Brandon Woodruff joined the Shuckers on May 16th and led the Southern League in WHIP (1.04), opponent batting average (.211), strikeouts per nine innings (9.82), and fewest base runners per nine innings (9.66)...Woodruff led all of Minor League Baseball in strikeouts with 173, and led the Brewers organization in starts and innings pitched en route to being named Brewers Minor League Pitcher of the Year...pitchers Tristan Archer, Josh Hader and Stephen Peterson, outfielders Brett Phillips and Kyle Wren, and catcher Jacob Nottingham were named Southern League All-Stars in 2016.
PROSPECTING: Five members of the MLB.com Pipeline Brewers Top 30 are playing in Biloxi...RHP Luis Ortiz (#4), Mauricio Dubon (#9), Jorge López (#13), Jacob Nottingham (#14) and Michael Reed (#27) all made the list.
BROTHERS GUERRERO: Manager Mike Guerrero and hitting coach Sandy Guerrero are the second coaching brother combination in affiliated pro baseball (Stu and Stan Cliburn, Twins org 2001-2008). The Dominican duo's father was Epy Guerrero, the famed Dominican scout who signed more than 50 players including Carlos Delgado, Cesar Cedeño, Tony Fernandez and most recently Alcides Escobar. Brother Fred Guerrero is a Twins scout who signed Miguel Sanó, Danny Santana and Jorge Polanco. Mike picked up his 1,000th career victory on Thursday, July 14, 2016 in Biloxi's 3-2 walk-off win over Birmingham at MGM Park.
