GENEVA, IL - On a beautiful night for baseball in Geneva, the Beloit Snappers fell to the Kane County Cougars by a final score of 3-1 in a pitcher's duel.

Kane County would strike first in the ballgame with an early run in the bottom of the second inning. However, the Snappers would strike right back a couple innings later with a run of their own in the fourth.
In the fourth, the Snappers would use the long ball to crack the scoreboard courtesy of Logan Farrar. With an out in the inning, Logan Farrar crushed a ball over the right field wall to tie the game at 1 all. The homer was Farrar's first of the season after leading the Snappers in homers one year ago.
The tie though would not last long, as Kane County responded back with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning to take the 2-1 lead after 4 complete. The Cougars would tack on a late insurance run in the eighth to take the 3-1 lead and eventually win the contest by that score.
Unfortunately for the Snappers, they just could not get the bats going in the ballgame tonight, as they were only able to muster up four hits total resulting in one run.
For the Snappers on the mound, Beloit got a terrific outing from both the starters and relievers. Joe DeMers got the start tonight and will get tabbed with a tough loss. DeMers threw five strong innings giving up just 5 hits and 2 ER with 1 K.
The bullpen would finish out the final 3 innings and were masterful in relief. Ty Damron came out of the pen first throwing 2 innings of scoreless baseball while striking out 3. Michael Danielak would follow and threw one solid inning, giving up just 1 ER, 2 hits, with 1 K.
The Snappers will look to get back in the win column this weekend when they return home for a 5-game homestand. The Snappers will take on the Timber Rattlers tomorrow at 6:30 with Star Wars Fireworks Night presented by Christofferson Moving and Storage.
The Beloit Snappers are a member of the Midwest League and have been the Single-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. For more ticket information, contact the Snappers office at (608) 362-2272 or visit our website, www.snappersbaseball.com
